South Island Backgammon Open Tournament (SIBOT)

TOURNAMENT FORMAT:

This will be a 2-day tournament scheduled for Saturday and Sunday the 15th and 16th of August 

Day 1:

1st round opposition is drawn randomly 

Players are matched to players with similar win/loss records for the remainder of the day

After 5 rounds, scores are collated to find the top 8 players

Qualifiers will be seeded for the 8 player, 2-life knockout

5 rounds of play should be completed by 6.00pm

The first round of the 2-life knockout will be played at 7.30pm

There is a bar as well as a restaurant at the venue so players can get lunch and/or dinner at the venue (restaurant menu will be included in further details at a later date)

Day 2:

Qualifiers from Day 1 will continue with the 2-life knockout

All non-qualifiers and any attendees that did not participate in the main event; as well as players competing in the knockout that become eliminated; are invited to enter in one of the side events for as long as entries are still available.
