Short on time but keen for an adventure? Enjoy this excellent tour of the Rame Peninsula leaving from and arriving back to Plymouth.
About this Event

Join us for a 3-5 hour hike, nibble and sightsee on the stunning Rame Peninsula, a national AONB (Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty), you set the pace and the distance. Want to walk a little more or a little less? Let us know, we have some suggested distances below:

Option 1: One Way Wanderer - 5 miles

Take the Plymouth Barbican to Cawsand Ferry in and out for this tour, and start your adventure from the beautiful sheltered bay of Cawsand. The beautiful village gives way to a forrested track that emerges out onto the Atlantic. From here explore historic ruins and make your way to Rame Head Chapel: St Michael's Hermitage. From here we wind our way back to the village down idyllic lanes before saying goodbye for the day back on the shore of the beach.

Option 2: River In, Sound Out - 8 miles

Take the Cremyll Ferry from the beautiful Royal William Yard area of Plymouth across the Tamar River, hike to beautiful Rame Head and enjoy the views before returning on one of the most exceptional pieces of coast path back to Cawsands to catch the Cawsand-Barbican Ferry back to Plymouth across the salt water of the Sound. Swim at Cawsand beach encouraged but optional!

Option 3: There and back again: the Rame Head Circuit - 14 miles

Don't like going back on yourself? This looped course takes in woodland, coast path, cliffs and lanes. A veritable delight! A real mix of terrain to keep things fresh and a delicious lunch included. This is our favourite route around the Rame Peninsula, affectionately nicknamed the 'Perimiter Check' as you get to loop the edges of the whole peninsula.

What are the routes like, are they challenging?

The rugged beauty of Cornwall does bring with it some hills, there are some steep sections but they are never too long and are always beautiful and worth it.

What to bring?

Sturdy shoes, boots are good, trail running shoes are good, hiking sandals are just fine too! The trail is buffed out and mostly quite smooth underfoot, if we have nice dry trails normal trainers shouldn't be a problem either.

If the weather is hot: slip - slap - slop - sip (slip on a shirt, slap on a hat, slop on some sunscreen and sip on some water).

If it's cool: lovely! Longsleeve and shorts is our favourite combo and it's nice to have a cool day to warm up into when we get moving.

If it's rainy/windy: expect some coastal drama, blue skies and calm seas are beautiful but there is something just magical about feeling the energy of the Atlantic and seeing the waves march towards the cliffs. Layers are your friend! Moisture wicking base, long sleeve, optional warm insulated layer and then a rainproof on top. A spare change of socks is a moralle booster - keep some in a sandwhich bag in your pack.

Good to know:

Signal is good along the routes and we can provide water refils. Ferry fares are covered and your guide will meet you at the ferry.

£65pp, minimum group size 2.
