South Dakota Ballot Measures Forum
The forum will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 24th at USD – Sioux Falls in Avera Hall, 4801 N. Career Ave., Sioux Falls, SD.
Speakers from both sides of the four ballot questions will be invited to speak to the issues. All are proposed constitutional amendments placed on the ballot by the South Dakota Legislature. This event is free and open to the public.
Amendment I: Repeal expanded Medicaid coverage in the state if federal funding for expansion drops below 90 percent.
Amendment J: Clarify an individual must be a U.S. citizen to be eligible to vote.
Amendment K: Create a trust fund for the state’s unclaimed property tax dollars.
Amendment L: Require any future constitutional amendments to receive 60 percent of the vote to pass. It’s currently a simple majority.
