About this Event
Join Almira & Dominnique for an evening of gentle practices that explore sound, somatic movement and art-making as a form of active meditation.
We will be invited into our bodies with some gentle qi gong and welcomed into rest with a soothing soundbath. From a place of deep listening, we will then explore drawing based on archetypal shape, rhythm and breathing patterns.
Expertly guided by Dominique, movement will flow into art and vice versa, accompanied by live sounds and curated music. Using both left and right hands, we will utilise bi-lateral stimulation through self-touch and image-making. This unique approach invites a beautiful dialogue between our brain hemispheres and promotes regulation for the nervous system.
Followed by a nourishing soundbath with a selection of himalayan and crystal singing bowls and gentle gong, we'll allow ourselves to rest in their hypnotic resonance.
Finishing in circle to reflect on our experiences, we will witness our collective creations, review the interweaving processes of sound, movement and drawing and give space to mindfully close our afternoon together.
You'll leave the session with our own unique piece of artwork, a deeper coneection to self and in a regulated and rested state.
Dominique is a Movement Psychotherapist, Qi gong practitioner, Advanced Pilates Teacher and Yoga Teacher. Dominique has developed a highly specialised practice that integrates embodied psychotherapeutic perspectives into movement, as well as using somatic arts interventions for chronic pain and exploring how Polyvagal Theory can offer a compassionate model to better understand our own movement patterns. She has lectured at University level and continues to work alongside other health professionals to deliver holistic programmes of care for a range of clients.
Almira has followed a passion for personal development and spirituality for the past 20 years, leading her to study sound healing with a variety of teachers, meditation, rituals, as well as various wisdom traditions. Almira co-created The Sound Shift with partner George in 2019. Together they offer sound and wellbeing experiences, sessions and retreats for groups, individuals and busnesses. All of their sessions are carefully and sonically considered to provide a safely-held space for release, rest and rejuvenation.
