January is Human Trafficking Awareness month and PuraVida Wellness is collaborating with Northern Ohio Regional
Efforts to Combat Human Trafficking (REACH) to raise
funds for services benefiting human trafficking survivors. If

Meet the Woman behind it all, Amy:
Amy LaGesse is the Director of Programming at the University of Toledo’s Human Trafficking and Social
Justice Institute. She has served in this position since March 2020. She has a Master’s Degree in
Sociology from the University of Toledo specializing in Race, Class and Gender issues. Amy’s human
trafficking experience started in 2014 with the implementation of a statewide grant through Northern
Ohio REACH, the local anti-human trafficking Coalition.
Amy is honored to serve as the current Chair of Northern Ohio REACH, where she has previously served
as Secretary and as one of the Co-Chairs of the Education Committee. Amy also served for two years on
the Board of the Ohio Alliance to End Sexual Violence. She is humbled to have received the 2020 Sexual
Assault Visionary Award from the National Sexual Violence Resource Center for exceptional dedication
in service of survivors and advocacy services of human trafficking survivors in Ohio. She has been
featured on public radio shows as well as local radio, has been featured on Canvas Rebel.com and is in
the process of writing her autobiography. Her biggest accomplishment is being a proud Mom of two
Sons, and Grandmother to 4 grandchildren.
