Not because they’re the biggest shows in town, but because you walked into a legendary room, heard a song for the very first time, and left knowing you’d witnessed something special.
That’s what Songwriter Nights at The Nick is all about.
For decades, The Nick has been one of Birmingham’s most beloved music venues, giving original artists a stage and music lovers a place to discover their next favorite songwriter. Every week, I’m incredibly grateful to have the opportunity to host and perform these nights. It’s a privilege to share this historic stage with such talented artists and help celebrate the amazing songwriting community that makes Birmingham so special.
This Tuesday, we’re honored to welcome an incredible featured artist.
⭐ Featuring Dorian Balis
A gifted songwriter, guitarist, multi-instrumentalist, and producer, Dorian Balis is an artist whose songs are both beautifully crafted and deeply moving. With releases like Beyond the River, Quiet as Mine, and Polka Rose, Dorian has built a catalog full of thoughtful lyricism, memorable melodies, and exceptional musicianship. Whether you’re already familiar with his work or hearing him for the first time, this is a performance you won’t want to miss.

I’d also like to give a huge thank you to Jay Taylor, who’ll be running sound and recording our performances over the next few weeks. Having someone with Jay’s talent and ear behind the console is an incredible gift. Great sound can transform a performance, and we’re lucky to have someone so dedicated helping these songs be heard the way they deserve.
