This intimate show traces the extraordinary musical journey of Billie Holiday, shaped by her friendship with tenor saxophonist Lester Young (“Prez”).
At its heart is the music of their era—songs born from shared stages, deep artistic respect, and a bond that left a lasting imprint on jazz.
Led by Paula Hackney and Andrew Garton, and joined by an all-star band, the ensemble presents highlights from Holiday’s career and collaborations with Benny Goodman, Teddy Wilson, her later performances, and the unforgettable Lester Young years—celebrating the music and friendships that helped shape a jazz icon.
