Somatic Opening Methodology and Applications
About this Event
In our culture of disembodiment, it can be challenging to create conditions for clients to bring awareness to the body. Utilizing Somatic practices consistently, effectively, and flexibly also necessitates a level of Somatic Embodiment on the part of the practitioner.
This training introduces practitioners to tools for building a general baseline of Somatic fluency in ourselves and our clients, ahead of, inside of, and beyond doing any trauma-specific work. With fluency comes flexibility and the ability to shape and create tools and practices that serve each unique client.
Somatic Opening Methodology is not a fixed or prescriptive intervention prepared by the practitioner, but rather a natural state of change that can show up in every individual Soma. This training will cover the development of skills to notice, address, cultivate, and guide clients through various degrees of opening and change in the body. This can become a fundamental support piece in the overall arc of working with any client, whatever the focus.
T.T. Kooken (they/them) is an experienced Somatic practitioner, practicing multi-modal Somatics which weaves Cultural Somatics, Somatic Coaching methodology, Integrative Hypnosis, Breathwork, Bodywork, Energywork, Qigong, EFT Tapping, and more. They have facilitated groups and worked with individuals in New Orleans for nearly a decade.
