Somatic Movement & Ecstatic Dance with Jane Latham

Join us for a warm evening of movement, music and connection — a space to explore, express, and simply be yourself.

This somatic dance weaves together elements of somatic movement and Yoga Nidra practices, gently supporting you to reconnect with your body’s natural wisdom.

Lying on a yoga mat, you're invited to settle into deep rest before awakening the body through simple, breath-led movement. As awareness shifts toward sensation, movement begins to flow more softly and intuitively - dissolving tension and nourishing both mind and body.

The ecstatic dance continues with light facilitation, supporting you to stay present and embodied. Expect a rich, emotive soundscape, journeying from softness into an organic deep house vibe, building toward lively, expansive crescendos and euphoric peaks - inviting you to shake off the remnants of the week and dance with complete freedom, on your own or with others.

We’ll close with a soothing crystalline sound bath led by Justine Nolan, followed by a gentle integration circle and post-dance gathering, with healthy snacks and drinks available.

GUIDELINES

• Please arrive by 7.30 pm so we can all journey together
• No prior experience necessary, all are welcome (aged 16+)
• Dancing barefoot is ideal, but socks or dance shoes are also OK
• Feel free to dance on your own or explore connection with others
• Be respectful of boundaries - seek permission before connecting
• Aim to avoid bumping into others and interrupting their flow
• No talking in the space and put your phones on mute
• This is an alcohol and drug-free event

• Layers of clothing for dancing and relaxing at the end
• Water bottle (can be refilled)

On booking a ticket, you should receive a confirmation email with further event details. If you can't see this, check your spam folder or other email accounts you might have used. On arrival we'll either scan your QR code or check you in by your name.

PHOTO AND VIDEO

A few promotional shots will be captured sensitively during the dance - you will have the opportunity to request exclusion from these.

ABOUT YOUR DJ AND FACILITATOR

Jane combines many years of training in spiritual and somatic practices with her experience as a psychotherapist to create grounded, heart-centred spaces for you to come home to yourself - to feel human.

With a deeply embodied sense of the transformative power of movement, her DJ sets flow intuitively through shadow and light, building through neoclassical, electronica and global rhythms to deep, melodic house and techno - inviting you to fully let go into whatever arises, before softening into deeper presence and connection.

Known for her Dancing Freedom woodland dances in Hackney Wick, she has guest-DJed for others including Ecstatic Dance UK, Rumble and The Psychedelic Society.

In addition to this monthly somatic dance, she also offers weekly somatic movement and Yoga Nidra sessions at Social Yoga.
