Resolution: As a means of gaining leverage in economic and political relations with foreign governments, Trump's tariff policies have brought net benefits.


For the affirmative:

Stephen Moore is an economist, a former senior policy adviser to President Donald Trump, and the co-founder and chairman of Unleash Prosperity. He is the author of several books, including Trumponomics: Inside the America First Plan To Revive Our Economy and The Trump Economic Miracle: and the Plan To Unleash Prosperity Again.


For the negative:

Scott Lincicome is the vice president of general economics at the Cato Institute's Herbert A. Stiefel Center for Trade Policy Studies. He writes on international and domestic economic issues, including international trade, subsidies and industrial policy, manufacturing and global supply chains, and economic dynamism.
