About this Event
You're invited to a welcoming, in-person gathering to explore a unique body-based awareness practice called Social Presencing — open to everyone, no experience needed!
What is Social Presencing Theater (SPT)? Despite its name, SPT isn’t “theater” in the usual sense—there’s no acting, performing, or pressure. It’s a guided practice to help people slow down, connect to their bodies, and sense what’s emerging in their lives and communities.
We're forming a monthly, in-person practice group where we explore how embodied presence can support clarity, connection, and resilience. You don’t need to know anything in advance—just come as you are. This is a gentle, low-stakes way to try something new and meaningful.
💛 In these rapidly changing times, we need ways to stay present and connected—SPT offers exactly that, through simple, body-based practices that anyone can try.
Donations welcome, but totally optional—think of it as a love offering, not a fee.
Please forward this invitation to friends, family, or networks who might enjoy movement, mindfulness, creativity, social healing, or somatic approaches. For all body types. The more diverse our group, the richer our practice!
🙏 If you're on Facebook, you're welcome to share our SPT ATL fb group page. If you use other social platforms and want to help spread the word, let us know.
Warmly
Sue Gilman & Anouk Shambrook
Meet our co-facilitators:
Sue Gilman is the Executive Director of the Atlanta Shambhala Center and has been practicing meditation and Tibetan Buddhism for over 30 years. She leads classes on mindfulness, fearlessness, and joy in everyday life, and has been teaching since 2000. Sue has been connected to Social Presencing Theater (SPT) since its early days, having attended one of the first SPT sessions led by Arawana Hayashi in the 1980s. She brings decades of experience facilitating contemplative practice groups and is passionate about weaving SPT into the fabric of community life. She sees this group as a way to deepen her own facilitation while co-creating a vibrant, embodied practice space in Atlanta.
Dr. Anouk Aimée Shambrook is an executive coach, specializing in somatics (integrating body–mind–spirit), supporting individuals and groups in navigating complexity with clarity and presence. She began her career as an astrophysicist and NASA fellow, eventually shifting her focus from the outer universe to the inner one—from galaxies of stars to self-awareness. Her background includes training with the Trauma Resource Institute, three years of Biodanza teacher training, and studies in Parts Work (Aware Ego Process) and Indigenous Focusing-Oriented Therapy. She is also a meditation teacher whose practice is rooted in nondual awareness. Her work is guided by a deep commitment to embodied collective liberation.
