Great event for newbies, those just curious about Polyamory/CNM, and veterans alike! There is no structure, just hanging out and chatting over good beverages and food! Individual bar-like not restaurant style ordering.
People with name tags are in our group. Unlike our sister event on the second Thursday, this event tends to be more laid back and intimate. So less of a true "mingle" and more of a "sit down and chat with people" type event.
FYI: We are known and visible as a Poly group at this location. We have been going for many years (before I hosted this event!) and staff and management have always been so amazing with us. I had never had any issues with attendees, staff, or the venue. If you have any questions or concerns over this, please let me know!
In all things, enthusiastic consent is to be required for all interactions. If you're a "toucher" (touch elbow, shoulder etc when talking to someone) or a "hugger," or you like to touch when flirting, please ask before making contact with another person. If this is hard for you and not your natural we understand and provide grace, just be clear, communicative, and if necessary apologetic if you slip up. Understand that physical contact from strangers/non-partners is a trigger for some people.
This is not a pickup/dating event (though connections do often happen!!). My #1 recommendation to people for finding partners is always to find your local community, and that's us! But both things remain true simultaneously: This event is NOT a dating/hook-up/flirty space AND you may find people to connect with and flirt with if you please.
If you ever feel uncomfortable, unsafe, or accessibility needs are not being met please notify myself (Sarah, always has "HOST" on name-tag") or venue staff.

FAQ
**I don't drink, can I still come?**
Yes! Bike Dog serves non-alc kombucha, and sodas. Next door at Sellands they sell a variety of food that you may bring in to Bike Dog (at this event only, Thursday is a different matter) to consume. There's also a water station available for free use.
Purchase is also not-necessary, though encouraged. However, it's never a bad idea to throw something in to the tip jar to thank our venue hosts and staff for having us!
**I'm <insert descriptive="" word=""> will I be welcome here? **
Our unifying banner is Consensual Non-Monogamy. No matter your age, body type, orientation, gender, religion or lack thereof, neurodivergence, nationality/ethnicity, abilities, economic status… (if I'm missing something here, let me know!)… as long as you are or are at least curious about Consensual Non-Monogamy in any of its many forms, you are welcome here.
**I’m going to be late, will there still be people there?**
Short answer, yes! Long answer, it depends. Usually there's at least a few from our group left until closing, but it does significantly taper off by 7. I tend to leave between 6-7 as I drive back to Oakdale and work in Lodi early in the morning.
**How do I find the group?**
First, we’re usually the largest group at Bike Dog and hard to miss! Bike Dog usually puts plastic signs out for our group that say “Poly Night” on it. Lastly, the name tags! Everyone with a name tag is in our group. Find the table with the name tags, I'll be there to welcome you and get you oriented!
**How can I get further connected?**
We have a Facebook (Sacramento Area Polyamory) and Discord (Saacramento Polyamory/CNM) communities. If you can not locate them on your own, just send me a message or ask me in person!
**I've never been to a Poly/CNM event before and am really nervous, can you tell me what to expect?**
Absolutely, first events can be daunting! If I may suggest first, consider bringing a support person! I do this, honestly, and I'm the host. 😅For me, it’s just someone that’s there. Mine are usually partners, yours don’t have to be. I tell mine they don’t have to participate if they don’t want to (one never does and is explicitly, just support.)
Anyway! Yes! This event generally runs between 20-30 (though we've been growing!) people and by and far we are almost always the largest group there. It is usually a very laid back social event. No structure, just talking.
You’ll walk in through the small patio, into a large single room taproom with a service desk straight ahead. Either to your right or left you'll see a group of people or two, but at the end of one of those tables you'll see Name Tags and Sharpies. Gravitate toward that table and you'll trigger a welcome response from me. 🙃I'll chat you up and get you settled somewhere you feel good.
The group has been meeting at Bike Dog on the second Thursdays pre-pandemic (and before me!) and the venue owners loved us so much they asked us to do a second monthly event which we chose as this Sunday. So, the venue knows us and who we are, and we have a great relationship with them. We are visible here as the “Sac Poly” group.</insert>
