What would it take to build a world where everyone belongs?
Join the UUCiL Social Justice Book Group as we discuss Belonging Without Othering: How We Save Ourselves and the World by john a. powell and Stephen Menendian.
In a world increasingly divided by fear, polarization, and an “us versus them” mentality, the authors invite us to imagine a different way forward. They explore how we can create communities rooted in belonging, where our differences are recognized and valued rather than used to separate us.
Together, we'll reflect on questions such as:
What does it really mean to belong?
How does “othering” show up in our communities and institutions?
How can we build bridges across differences without ignoring injustice?
What might a society built around belonging look like?
Whether you've finished the book, read a few chapters, or are simply interested in the conversation, you're welcome to join us.
All are welcome. Come ready to listen, reflect, and explore how we can help create a world where everyone has a place.
