About this Event

The Southern California Regional Forest and Fire Capacity (RFFC) Convening will bring together regional partners working to advance forest health, wildfire resilience, and community wildfire preparedness. This gathering provides an opportunity to strengthen collaboration, share lessons learned, highlight innovative projects, and discuss emerging priorities for joint action across Southern California. The convening is designed for RFFC partners and grantees, federal, state, and local agencies, Tribal partners, nonprofit organizations, Fire Safe Councils, Resource Conservation Districts, researchers, and other stakeholders working to build wildfire-resilient landscapes and communities.

This year's convening will include an optional community wildfire preparedness gathering on Wednesday afternoon, followed by the full Convening on Thursday.

Community Wildfire Preparedness Gathering

This pre-convening gathering will focus on community wildfire preparedness and bring together Regional Firewise Leaders, Fire Safe Councils, community organizations, and agency partners to connect, share expertise, and identify opportunities for collaboration in advancing community resilience. Participants will have the opportunity to highlight current projects, successes, challenges, and resource needs, followed by time for informal networking and discussion.

SoCal Regional Wildfire Resilience Convening

The Convening will feature a full day of presentations, discussions, and partner updates highlighting current efforts to advance wildfire resilience across Southern California.

The program is expected to include:

  • Updates from federal and state agency partners, including the U.S. Forest Service, California Natural Resources Agency, California Department of Conservation, CAL FIRE, and other regional leaders.
  • Regional Forest and Fire Capacity grantee updates showcasing projects, partnerships, and lessons learned.
  • Partner presentations highlighting innovative approaches to forest health, post-fire recovery, workforce development, community preparedness, and wildfire resilience.
  • Panel discussions exploring emerging topics, challenges, and opportunities for cross-sector collaboration.
  • Opportunities to network with partners and identify future areas for coordination across the region.
