-Discover the meditative craft of stone carving by bringing a form to life in this hands-on workshop, where you will transform a soapstone animal blank into a smooth, polished sculpture.
-Soapstone is the ideal medium for beginners; it is soft enough to shape with hand tools, yet durable enough to hold beautiful, flowing detail as you refine the silhouette with professional rasps and files.
-You will learn some basics of carving soft stone. Then refine your carving with a wet-sanding technique to strip away tool marks and eliminate dust, resulting in a surface that is a smooth finish. To complete the transformation, we apply a high-quality wax finish that deepens the stone’s natural color and reveals its hidden luster.
-This entire journey is a fun, meditative process that allows you to quiet the mind and focus on the physical connection between your hands and the stone, leaving you with a one-of-a-kind animal carving to take home.
