On August 26th, Los Cenzontles will present a sneak preview of its new feature-length documentary, Waves of the Same Sea: The Making of Adios Ke Aloha, on Wednesday, August 26, at San Francisco’s 4-Star Theater.
Directed by Chris Brown, the 90-minute film takes viewers inside an extraordinary five-day recording session at Los Cenzontles’ San Pablo studio. The band is joined by music legends Taj Mahal and David Hidalgo of Los Lobos, as well as Hawaiian masters Gary Haleamau and Sonny Lim, in an exploration of the deep musical and cultural connections between Mexico and Hawaiʻi--an exploration that yielded Los Cenzontles’ acclaimed new album Adios Ke Aloha.
The evening will begin with a live performance by Los Cenzontles at 7:00 p.m., followed by the film at 7:45 p.m. (Doors open at 6:30).
