About this Event

Looking to get comfortable riding in San Francisco? Join us for a presentation covering all you need to know about biking in SF and the Bay Area. This is the perfect class for people interested in biking but intimidated by urban traffic, and anyone already riding to hone their skills.

This comprehensive course follows the curriculum of the League of American Bicyclists and is the first in a series of classes. It will prepare you for our Smart City Cycling 2 and 3 on-bike workshops.

Topics covered:

  • Choosing a bike
  • Rules of the road
  • Biking in city traffic
  • Handling intersections
  • Avoiding collisions

This class is part of the SFMTA’s Bicycle Safety Education program, presented in partnership with the San Francisco Bicycle Coalition. It is made possible by the San Francisco County Transportation Authority through a grant of Proposition L Local Transportation Sales Tax Funds
