Join us at Grain & Glass for an exciting whisky tasting event, Smoke Around The World, where we explore the unique art of smoking barley and its influence on whisky flavor. Hosted by the knowledgeable Stefanie Holt, this tasting will dive into the different techniques of peating and alternative smoking methods, focusing on how the origin of peat—be it from Scotland, Japan, or Denmark—imparts distinct characteristics to the whisky. From Denmark’s innovative approaches to Japan’s refined tradition, we’ll sample whiskies from various countries, each showcasing its own take on smoky expressions.

Where peat comes from plays a significant role in the flavor of peated whisky. Peat, formed from layers of decomposed organic matter, varies greatly depending on its location, influencing the smoke's aroma and taste. With a background in genetics and years of experience working in some of the world’s top cocktail bars, Stefanie transitioned from being an award-winning rum ambassador to a whisky expert. Her Scottish roots, combined with her scientific understanding and love for spirits, make her the perfect guide for this smoky expedition.
