Smart Cycling Part 1 - Everyday Riding Skills
Want to ride your bike with confidence — for commuting, errands, or fun? Join our dynamic Smart Cycling Part 1 class and learn the skills that make riding safer, easier, and more enjoyable. Taught by certified League Cycling Instructors, this class will cover beginner, intermediate, and advanced bicycling topics and techniques.
What you’ll learn:
- Good bike fit: Learn how to fit a bicycle to your body for comfort and control.
- Safety checks: Master a simple 5-step check to make sure your bike is road-ready.
- Practical riding techniques: Handle nearly any road situation with proven methods.
- Lane positioning: Know where to ride to stay safe around cars.
- Rights & responsibilities of a bicyclist: Understand how to apply the vehicle code

Who should attend
Open to everyone aged 14 and up. No bike or helmet needed. Please register each participant separately.
Next steps
Take this class on its own or as a prerequisite for Smart Cycling Part 2, where we practice bike handling skills in a parking lot and go on a guided group ride.
