On March 4th, 2026, the historic Neir’s Tavern was the target of a 25-minute burglary attempt—the third in recent years. This incident, resulting in over $7,300 in damages and security costs, follows a pattern of increasing criminal boldness in our neighborhood and rising retail crime.

Small businesses are currently being squeezed. On one side, we are battling mounting operational costs and on the other, we are facing an increasingly bold criminal element.

Neir’s Tavern is hosting the Small Business Safety Summit to bridge the gap between business owners, law enforcement, and civic organizations. We are moving beyond just reporting crime to implementing systemic prevention.

Goal of the Summit:

• Direct Communication: Establish a clear line of intelligence sharing between businesses and the 102nd Precinct.
• Strategic Fortification: Discuss modern security infrastructure and how to leverage collective resources.
• Policy Advocacy: Align with elected officials and civic groups to protect the economic backbone of Woodhaven.
