About this Event
Starting with some simple, still life ‘green sketching’* with additional inspiration from vintage nature books, you’ll create a simple motif for your slow stitching piece. After transferring your design onto found fabric you will be gently guided through the process of using simple, slow, sashiko style, hand-stitches to create your own work of art.
The aim is to enjoy the process rather than focus on the outcome and take away new relaxing, creative skills that you can practise at home.
* Green sketching (developed by Dr Ali Foxon) is for all abilities, whether you’re an absolute beginner or an accomplished artist. The purpose is to relax, observe nature around you and have fun making marks in response to what you see and feel. It’s not about producing an accurate representation of what you see, but is about enjoying the moment.
Suitable for beginners. Accompanied children over 12 years old are welcome (ticket price £15, email [email protected] to book).
Class sizes are kept small making sure that everyone gets attention and assistance when needed.
We will provide:
- all sketching and sewing materials and tools, including found fabric and thread, but feel free to bring your own too
- guided instruction step-by-step from Karen
- organic, Fairtrade hot and cold drinks and plant-based cake
What to bring
- Your own sewing and sketching materials if you prefer.
