Join us for a unique opportunity as we tour the Pojoaque Pueblo Bison Restoration Project in Pojoaque, 20 minutes north of Santa Fe.About this Event
The Pueblo of Pojoaque Bison Restoration Project was started in 1994 by Ralph Viarrial with four bison on under three acres. The herd can now number up to 100 bison on 1000 acres. The project is currently helmed by Ralph’s nephew, Phil Viarrial, who will be our guide.
This special tour, for Slow Food Santa Fe, will last about two hours and will be followed by a complimentary bison lunch, provided by the Pueblo. We will be moving around the Pueblo bison ranch on a trailer, much like a hayride. After the tour, in addition to lunch, various cuts of bison will be available for purchase (cash or check only).
Come and join us for what promises to be an inspiring and rare opportunity to experience close-up the successful restoration of a native species that is vital to indigenous traditions. Spaces are limited so sign up early!
We'll be meeting at the Pojoaque Bison Restoration Project offices near the Cities of Gold Casino off Hwy 84/285. Once you register more details will be provided about the meeting location and the mornings' events.
