Ring in the New Year with star pianist, Maxim Lando, and celebrate the 100th anniversary of Gershwin’s Rhapsody in Blue! Written in 1924, Rhapsody in Blue has come to symbolize the assimilation of jazz and popular style into the orchestral canon. Walk the red carpet and we'll celebrate the New Year on the East Coast with our own ball drop celebration. Hear holiday favorites from Home Alone and the Polar Express, along with Prokofiev’s Piano Concerto No.1, written when the composer was just 18 years old. Opening both halves are Hollywood icons, John Williams’ Hymn to New England and Michael Abels’ Global Warming (the title symbolically refers to the “warming” of international relations, and not so much about climate change).Guest Artist Sponsor: Mark Sherman and Denise Barilla
