Tomb MoldCanadian death metal devotees Tomb Mold have come roaring back to life with The Enduring Spirit. Their fourth album layers bludgeoning riffs and guttural howls on top of mind-melting song structures. Abrupt Decay
Far from your grandmother’s grindcore, Abrupt Decay gladly shoves a genre-expanding take on noise into the audience’s face, leveraging a DJ to inject extra grooviness into the depths of noise. The chaotically screeched vocals often ruminate on intrusive thoughts, adding an enticingly vulnerable layer to one of Alberta’s best heavy acts.
False Body
On their latest EP It’s Not Permanent, hardcore darlings False Body chart out nearly eight minutes of scathing vocals, dynamic blast beats, and all the inspiration you need to recklessly spin kick your way into the pit (in spirit, not reality, please). A beautifully tormented quality shines through these frozen Alberta ragers that is devastatingly relatable for the chronically devastated.
Squelch
Trudging through the corporate, the “cool,” and the casual, Squelch delivers a punishing crust-punk sound as angry as you are. The band’s dueling femme screamers define the structure of their shows with their back-and-forth vocal performances. This band kindly invites you to revolt against conformity through raw, authentic punk rock.
