Severe weather causes hundreds of injuries and billions of dollars in damage each year. To help communities stay safe, the National Weather Service created SKYWARNยฎ, a nationwide network of trained volunteers who report realโtime weather conditions during storms. With more than 350,000 spotters, SKYWARNยฎ plays a key role in improving the accuracy and lead time of severe weather warnings.
