From the beautiful, rarely heard Serenade for Strings by German composer Carl Reinecke to eclectic and colorful string orchestra music from Russia, Hungary and Finland, expect the unexpected from this innovative group of 21 musicians led by internationally renowned conductor David Rudge. We conclude with two works by American composers: the improvisatory Voodoo Dolls by Jessie Montgomery, and David Balakrishnan’s Skylife,a head-banging rock-anthem inspired piece for string orchestra.
