About this Event
This new Skills Bootcamp has been designed to directly respond to Social Housing provider requirements for multi-skilled staff who can efficiently undertake a range of maintenance tasks for their housing stock.
On 12th December 2024 Truro and Penwith College will be launching the Skills Bootcamp in Property Maintenance, with a taster session in the morning to provide an opportunity to meet with the tutors, take part in activities to get a better understanding of the content and study requirements of the full taught programme content, learn about the benefits of becoming an adult learner at Truro and Penwith College and meet with trained Guidance Officers to discuss career aspirations and any additional support or accessibility requirements.
The Skills Bootcamp will then run for eleven weeks on Thursdays from 9th January and learners will study a range of subjects that will enable aspiring leaders and managers to develop their career in the Construction and Property Maintenance sectors and prepare for progression onto further studies or an Apprenticeship.
Across the College-based teaching days, our specialist tutors will develop your knowledge and skills in a comprehensive range of topics including Responsibilities within Property Maintenance, Health and Welfare in the Workplace, Timber Studwalls, Windows, Internal Doors and Door Linings, Ironmongery, Skirtings and Architraves, Patch Work Repairs, Plasterboard and Skimming, Plumbing, Fascias, Soffits and Rainwater Goods and Wall and Floor Tiling
The Skills Bootcamp will be delivered by specialist Lecturers from the College’s Construction department and will culminate with the completion of the CITB Health and Safety examination, with learners financially supported to apply for the CSCS Card needed to work on Construction sites if they do not already hold this status.
You will also benefit from access to industry experts and local employers, who will share their insights to assist you with your next steps for employment or professional development.
Thanks to funding from the Department for Education, SME employers will only need to pay 10% of the course fee (£260.90), whilst large organisations will be asked to contribute 30% (£782.70).
