About this Event
Truro and Penwith College has collaborated with Kernow Health's Primary Care Training Hub, Cornwall Partnership NHS Foundation Trust, Royal Cornwall Hospital Trust, Health and Care Academy and the Independent Care Board to co-develop an innovative Skills Bootcamp covering core clinical skills and competencies for existing Health and Social Care sector employees who are looking to develop into clinical roles or educational pathways.
This thirteen-week Skills Bootcamp will start on 13th January 2025 and will enable learners to access career progression, with previous Skills Bootcamp students moving into Senior Health Care or Clinical roles, or prepare them for an Apprenticeship or further study.
Feedback from previous Skills Bootcamp in Clinical Pathways learners:
'Outstanding tutor support from the team. Plenty of resources made available and there were always opportunities to ask questions, as well as carry out practical applications. The course was always interesting, boosted confidence and has opened up opportunities for future self/career development.'
'Couldn't have asked for a more considerate, fantastic tutor who has enabled me to learn new skills and has opened up future possibilities for career development. The support and information has been absolutely fantastic, valuable and I would love to see the bootcamp expanded out to others as it is too good a course to miss.'
The knowledge and skills acquired through the Skills Bootcamp align with National Occupational Standards at Level 3 and learners who complete the Skills Bootcamp may be able to reduce programme duration if they progress on to further accredited qualifications.
Across the thirteen-weeks, specialist tutors from Truro and Penwith College and expert Health and Social Care practitioners will deliver knowledge and skills in a comprehensive range of topics, depending on your setting, including:
CORE
• Demonstrating Professional Practice
• Undertaking Physiological Measurements
• Introduction to Diabetes
PATHWAY SPECIFIC - SOCIAL CARE
•Pressure Ulcer Prevention
• Tissue Viability
• Supporting Urinary Continence and Catheter Care Management
• Falls Prevention
• Introduction to medicines management
The course has been specifically designed so that all learners participate in the core topics detailed above and will then complete tailored units aligned to their professional environment, with specialist pathways developed for Primary Care and Social Care professionals.
Learners will benefit from access to industry experts, College tutors and clinical mentors throughout the Skills Bootcamp to support next steps for education, employment or professional development.
Thanks to funding from the Department for Education, SME employers will only need to pay 10% of the course fee (£245.30), whilst large organisations will be asked to contribute 30% (£735.90).
