The perfect way to get your hands dirty, relax, and have fun! In this evening introductory class, you'll learn the basics of hand building, using air dry clay. You'll craft your own whimsical garden gnome, perfect for your patio, desk, or bookshelf. Class time will be focused on learning hand-building techniques and crafting our gnomes. At the end of class, you'll take home your finished clay gnome, along with a kit and instructions for decorating on your own once the clay is dry.
Along with your class comes complimentary admission to the Museum's galleries, where you can explore one of the largest collections of ceramic art in the United States. Our current exhibitions are Fired in Revolution: Ceramics from the People's Republic of China; AIR 2026: Compulsion; The Store of Sturtevant’s The Store of Claes Oldenburg; and A Traveler's Guide to Mettlach: Villeroy & Boch.
Introductory sessions are for adults ages 18 and over (students 16+ may attend when accompanied by a paying adult).
