Sixth Annual Wreath Laying Commemoration

Join the Chickasaw Inkana Foundation (CIF) for the fifth annual Wreath Laying Ceremony honoring the life and legacy of noted Chickasaw Leader and Diplomat, Piominko, at Fairpark in downtown Tupelo, MS on October 13th, 2025.
Starting at 10:00 AM, we invite everyone to enjoy demonstrations of Chickasaw culture.
This event highlights the historical significance of Piominko's leadership in the historic Chickasaw Homeland, culminating with a ceremonial wreath being laid at the foot of the Piominko statue at Fairpark. Special remarks will be delivered by the CIF Board of Directors and Staff, as well as Tupelo City officials and other local dignitaries.
Piominko played a critical role in the recognition by the United States government of the Chickasaw Nation in 1794. He was the first to define the Chickasaw Nation nation's boundaries on a map drafted at the Treaty of Hopewell in 1786, and he also received a presidential peace medal from U.S. president George Washington in 1792.
