Single Mom Strong’s Men’s Mentoring River Fishing Cast-Off for 2026–27

About this Event

The Men's Mentoring River Fishing Cast-Off is a special opportunity for children in the Single Mom Strong community to connect with one another and potential mentors in a fun, educational outdoor setting.

Together, we'll learn the basics of fishing—from casting and reeling to baiting a hook—while enjoying time in nature and building meaningful connections. This event is also a wonderful opportunity for families to learn more about Single Mom Strong's Men's Mentoring Program and the positive impact caring male role models can have in a child's life.

Please register for either the 9:30 AM or 10:30 AM fishing session.

Each session includes fishing instruction and river fishing time. Activity stations will be available throughout the event for all participants. Parking can take up to 10 minutes, so please plan to arrive early enough to check in and be ready for your selected session.

🌊 What to Expect:

• Interactive fishing instruction
• All fishing supplies provided by the American River Parkway Foundation
• Quality time in nature with peers and potential mentors
• Activity stations available throughout the event
• Light snacks, bottled water, and hand sanitizer will be provided
• Restroom access is available (no running water)

👕 What to Bring & Wear:

• Comfortable clothing for standing on rocky terrain
• Hats, sunglasses, sunscreen, and/or UPF clothing for sun protection
• Tennis shoes or sturdy footwear (no sandals, please)

🚗 Parking Info:

A day-use pass will be available for those without an annual parks pass. Please see your event email reminder (sent 24 hours and 1 hour before the event) for details. Look for small white arrow signs to guide you to our meetup spot near the restrooms.

🧒 Who Can Attend?

All school-aged children of single moms (ages 5.5–13) are welcome. No fishing experience is necessary—just bring curiosity and a sense of adventure!

This event is part of our Summer Sports Series and is the final opportunity this summer for children to receive priority consideration for participation in the 2026–27 Men's Mentoring Program. Space is limited.

👩 For Moms

Moms are encouraged to stay, observe, and enjoy the morning. This is a great opportunity to meet mentors, connect with other families, and hear from past participants about their experience in the program.

Parking is valid for the entire day, so you're welcome to continue enjoying the river after the event concludes.
