A FREE singing picnic on Peace How to commemorate International Day of Peace, hosted by Dave Camlin, singers from Sing Owt! / Wild Chorus choirs, and participants in the Wild Singing Weekend that Dave and Rachael Wadey are leading in Borrowdale over the weekend.Peace How is a small hill gifted to the National Trust in 1917, so that anyone affected by the First World War could come and experience peace and tranquility.
It's easy to find. Park your vehicle at the Bowder Stone car park, and walk up through Grange village. Just before you get to the Borrowdale Gates hotel, take the footpath opposite the hotel and walk uphill 200 yards. The narrow path climbs gradually, with one small area of exposed bedrock to negotiate, to the slate bench and memorial plaque at the crest of the hill.

Bring a picnic for yourself and / or to share if you want. There will be some songs of peace which you're welcome to join in with, and a special rendition of the Fellowship anthem, a choral arrangement of the dedication given by Geofrrey Winthrop-Young of the Keswick Fell and Rock Climbing Club on Great Gable summit in 1924, to celebrate the 'great gift' of fell summits to the nation by the FRCC.
The UN says "Peace Day provides a globally shared date for all humanity to commit to Peace above all differences and to contribute to building a Culture of Peace." https://internationaldayofpeace.org/
