This will be a folk sing! We sing traditional songs that folks can sing together a capella - sea shanties, work songs, chorus songs, etc. These songs are often learned by ear, so join in with everyone else when the repeating parts come around! In the spirit of purposeful and deliberate singing, think about and prepare your songs ahead of time; write down the words if you haven't learned them by heart!
We find that songs with short, catchy choruses, repeated lines, call and response, or easy join-y in-y bits are well suited to this joyous joining of voices! We sing these songs a capella, so no need to pack an instrument. If you haven't prepared a song to share, come and join in on songs others are excited to lead. If something in your song could hurt or exclude others or perpetuate sexism, racism, or other bad stuff, please change the words or choose another song. Let's build a space that's comfortable for everyone in our community!
