A silent film with live musical accompaniment under the stars on a Summer night at the former ranch of the silent film director who made the film - and it's free to attend!
The Trail of '98 (1928) directed by Clarence Brown and
starring Harry Carey & Dolores del Rio ends the 40th year of Silents Under the Stars, a presentation of Hollywood Heritage. Original music will accompany the film, performed by Michael D. Mortilla.
Thirty years after the Alaska territory was purchased from the Russian Empire, the Klondike Gold Rush of 189 7 inspired thousands from around the country and beyond to seek their fortune in its cold, difficult and dangerous terrain. This film, which director Clarence Brown called his most challenging, features thousands of extras and encountered difficult weather and shooting conditions. Fortunately, Dolores Del Rio and Ralph Forbes help Brown bring a warm love story to life
amongst this story of unmitigated greed. (MGM)
