Silents Under the Stars
About this Event
Feature film The Trail of ’98 (1928), directed by Clarence Brown and starring Harry Carey and Dolores del Río, will be shown outdoors in the King Gillette Ranch Visitor Center Courtyard.
Set during the Klondike Gold Rush of 1897, the film follows fortune seekers from across the country as they brave the rugged Alaskan wilderness in pursuit of wealth and opportunity. Considered by director Clarence Brown to be his most challenging production, the film featured thousands of extras and was filmed under demanding conditions. Dolores del Río delivers a memorable performance in this sweeping adventure and romance.
All films will feature live music composed spontaneously by Michael D. Mortilla, bringing the silent screen to life with an unforgettable musical experience.
Guided walking tours of the grounds will begin at 6:30 PM.
The Visitor Center will remain open until 7:00 PM.
Showtime is 7:30 PM.
Both the event and parking are free.
