Silent Simplicity Retreat - Summer Renewal

When did you last give yourself the gift of true stillness?
This July, step away from the noise — and into something genuinely transformative.
Silent Simplicity is a 2.5-hour morning mindfulness retreat held in the beautiful Mansfield Freeman Center for East Asian Studies, overlooking BFF's serene Shôyôan Teien Zen Garden in Middletown, CT.
This is not a Buddhist retreat. It is a human one — open to everyone, regardless of background, belief, or experience. Whether you have never meditated before or have practiced for years, this retreat meets you exactly where you are.
The morning includes:
🧘 Basic sitting meditation instruction & conscious breathing
🚶 Mindful walking
🌿 Noble silence — shared stillness with a warm community of fellow seekers
🪷 A breathtaking Zen garden setting unlike anything else in Connecticut
No talking. No phones. No agenda. Just you, your breath, and the quiet that is always waiting beneath the surface of a busy life.
Past participants have reported:
✔ Greater mental clarity and focus
✔ Reduced stress and anxiety
✔ Emotional healing and renewed well-being
✔ A simple daily practice they carry home and use immediately
Your Guide: Rev. G.R. Lewis, M.A.
BFF's Guiding Dharma Teacher with 35+ years of experience in the Thien (Rinzai Zen) tradition. Warm, accessible, and deeply experienced in guiding both beginners and seasoned practitioners.
