Ahead of the SILC Afternoon Dance at The Pavilion in Derby, we’re delighted to offer a mini SILC Foundation Workshop — perfect for anyone who would like to dip their toe into SILC, build confidence with slower music, or feel more at home stepping into SILC rooms.
This relaxed and friendly workshop will introduce some of the key techniques that make SILC feel smooth, connected and musical. We’ll look at how to adapt your movement for slower tracks, how to create flow, and how to use connection and control to make your dancing feel more comfortable and expressive.
You’ll be taught by Lyndsey Hill and Tim Stevens, both experienced Ceroc teachers and qualified SILC teachers, with a real passion for helping dancers feel confident and connected on the dance floor. Lyndsey brings years of teaching, teacher training and competition experience, with a strong focus on technique, clarity and connection really understand how movement works. Tim has been teaching Ceroc for 16 years and is known for his funky style, technical prowess and creative approach to movement. As a qualified street dance teacher, he also brings an added sense of rhythm, body awareness and musical expression to his teaching.
This session is ideal if you’re new to SILC, curious about what it involves, or simply want to feel more comfortable dancing to slower music. Depending on time, we may also introduce one or two Progressive-style moves towards the end of the workshop.
The workshop takes place before the SILC Afternoon Dance, so it’s a brilliant way to warm up, learn something useful, and then put it straight into practice.
