July's Showroom Shorts is veritably packed! What a programme! We’ve got 78 mins worth of fantasy, comedy, short docs, a period feature film teaser, a quirky one-minute romantic piece and even a drama about a naughty couple that break into a fish and chip shop!
A lovely little summer evening lies in store for you on this day, so be surety join us. The filmmakers will be on hand to introduce their films and answer a few questions about them. Hosted by Rob Speranza of the SYFN, this evening is going to be a pleasant one - with a little pinch of networking too.
As always we will also be raffling off some prizes on the night, including a few film posters, a pair of Showroom Cinema film vouchers, a couple of tote bags and some branded film industry merch!
Don’t miss it - it's gonna be a good one! And it's still free to attend! Check out the programme below!
Express to You - Dir. Louis and Julita Brough, 2026 - 1.06
Whilst we were in Poland visiting family we learned about a 60 second film challenge which had to include a physical Plug and an Express, in some form. We had a nice idea and went looking around for a train station and intended to shoot a romantic piece without any language in it because we wanted to shoot something both of our families could understand... And we didn't have any audio equipment.
The Gathering - Dir. Laura Cooper, 2025 - 23.22
The Gathering documents the annual round up of endangered wild Carneddau mountain ponies in Wales. Organised by local farmers, it is the only intervention in the ponies lives all year, who otherwise graze undisturbed whilst conserving their mountain habitat. The film closely follows the event, becoming increasingly engulfed in the complex dynamics of capture and care that unravel.
Faithful - Dir. Lucy Linger, 2025 - 18.00
Award-winning Scottish fairytale short Faithful follows grieving teen Vaila into dark, dangerous Highland woods, seeking the mythical Cù-Sìth and The Otherworld to right a painful wrong from her past forever. Produced by Fraser Coull of Silly Wee Films.
Brick by Brick - Dir. Louise Webb, 2025 - 7:00
A young bricklayer seeks to prevent the loss of the country’s declining heritage sites, as she sets out to inspire the curiosity of the public, educating them about her craft, and highlighting the importance of restoring old buildings, before it’s too late.
Stories in Stone - Dir. William Armitage, 2025 - 3:00
The short film explores what churches meant to those who came before us, and by extension what they can mean for us too. Set in St Peter’s Church, Thorpe Salvin, a building with 800 years worth of stories to tell.
Shadow Sites - Dir. Ava Lockey, 2025 - 3:15
This film is about the hidden heroism of Rotherham’s Women during the Second World War. This focuses specifically on the Royal Ordinance Factory, Maltby. Which saw Women manufacturing weapons such as Lee-Enfield Rifles and Sten Submachine guns.
The Weight of the Axe - Dir. Pia Woods, 2025 - 3:50
After discovering he’s one percent Viking, teenager James embraces his ancestry with horned helmets, museum selfies, and public performances that leave bystanders baffled—and his dad increasingly frustrated. As James’ quest for identity grows, so does the rift at home. This mockumentary explores how far we go to find ourselves, and what we risk along the way
Sorry We're Closed - Dir. Jonathan Hawes, 2026 - 9.22
A young couple break into a fish and chip shop after arguing about the lack of spontaneity in their relationship.
Online Dating - Dir. Tom Lee & Isaac Dodd, 2026 - 5.00
Don’t hate the player, hate the game - and this tech is playing hard to get.
Power and Glory (Trailer) - Dir. Norman Stone, 2026 - 5.00
Trailer for a feature film. Michael Faraday a devout blacksmith's son, fights poverty to become Britain's greatest scientist and the 'father of electricity'. His genius sparks a bitter war with his mentor, Sir Humphry Davy, but his ultimate battle is balancing the laws of God with the laws of nature. Starring James Cosmo, Conor Sanchez, Andy Harrison and Gaia Wise.
