About this Event

Shogi: Strategy, Presence & Practice

An intimate Japanese Chess experience in a Japanese-inspired space

Shogi (Japanese Chess) is more than a strategy game—it’s a practice in awareness, adaptability, and conscious decision-making.

This small-group gathering is an introduction to Shogi for those new to the game, especially those familiar with chess or other strategy games. Together, we’ll learn the fundamentals, practice through guided play, and explore how the way we think on the board reflects how we move through life.

Sessions are held in a calm, Japanese-inspired home setting with tatami mats, low tables, and a cozy, focused atmosphere designed for presence and learning.

What to Expect
  • A clear, beginner-friendly introduction to Shogi
  • Guided instruction with emphasis on how to think, not just the rules
  • Practice matches with rotation and support
  • Small group size (max 8 participants) for personalized guidance
  • Space for reflection, questions, and strategic insight

No prior Shogi experience is required. Familiarity with chess or other strategy games is helpful, but not necessary.
