About this Event

Get ready for a day filled with activities! From running through obstacle courses, climbing a wall or arts and crafts! We're sure there's something for everyone.

What is Scout-O-Rama:

Scout-O-Rama is the best of local Scouting on display for the whole community in the heart of San Jose at History Park. This family friendly day of discovery includes 100+ hands on activities for all ages. For only $10 per family ($15 at the gate), enjoy archery, shooting water rockets, tomahawk throwing, racing pinewood derby cars, slacklining, crafts, life size mazes, and more. All the booths inside the park, besides the food and refreshments, are free! Several food trucks are onsite to provide a variety of cuisines, or enjoy your own picnic lunch.



What to Expect:

An overload of delights and attractions for the whole amily that is perfect for a morning, afternoon, or the full day! With over 125 different activities you will never get bored at Scout-O-Rama.

Vietnamese Lion and Cultural Dance

Info: Vovinam (anglicized from Võ Việt Nam, meaning "Vietnamese Martial Arts"), officially known as Việt Võ Đạo (越武道, meaning "Vietnamese Way of Martial Arts") is a Vietnamese martial art[1] founded in 1938 by Nguyễn Lộc. It is based on traditional Vietnamese eclectic sources. Vovinam today is considered by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism to be a "National Intangible Cultural Heritage" as of November, 2023.[2]

Vovinam, based on the principle of "hard and soft", involves the use of strikes, elbows, kicks, knees, and wrestling moves, as well as weapons such as swords, knives, chisels, claws and fans that serve as training devices for reaching optimal control of body and mind. Students also learn defense techniques and forms. Amongst Vietnamese martial arts, Vovinam is the largest and most developed with more than 60 schools around the world.

Los Lupeños Academy offers public classes as a program under Cashion Cultural Legacy. Education in dance and culture has been a longstanding goal for both the Cashion Cultural Legacy and Los Lupeños de San José. Instructors not only teach dance, but connect the steps to music, customs, culture, and history. Students have the opportunity not only to learn dance sequences but to learn what they represent as well. Every session is a bit different, so for the latest schedule and registration info, bookmark this page and follow the posts on social media. Our classes take place in the dance studio at the School of Arts and Culture at the Mexican Heritage Plaza, corner of Alum Rock and King in San José with additional classes at Starting Arts Studios, 525 Parrott St in San José.

Greene Irish Dancers

Sondra began dancing at the age of four. Sondra won many competitions all over the United States and competed in the World Irish Dance Championships. While practicing law she also passed her TCRG examination and opened the dance school in 1993, which continues to thrive to this day. While raising two boys (Aiden and Mick) she obtained her ADCRG license to adjudicate in dancing. Sondra judges all over the United States, Canada, and Ireland.

Sondra is currently working as an attorney, but continues with her passion of teaching dancers from beginner to open championship levels. Her dancers have danced successfully at both the North American and World Championships. She loves working with children and has a special passions for team dancing. Sondra is also a great role model for children showing that hard work and dedication pay off.

The San Jose Junior Taiko program began in 1985 and is the oldest continually running children's taiko program in the country. Serving students from 3rd through 12th grades, the program consists of classes taught by members of San Jose Taiko's professional company who provide young players not only with instruction in taiko but also with opportunities for building creative expression, self-esteem, cultural awareness, and group cooperation. Since its humble beginnings, the Junior Taiko program has grown to over 60 students learning in 5 progressive class levels.
