Shehehe was founded in 2011, and since then they have toured extensively across the United States, earning a reputation for integrity, hard work, good music, and energetic live shows. Fusing the sensibilities of bands like The Ramones, Cheap Trick, and Bikini K*ll, members Nicole Bechill (bass and vocals), Jason Fusco (drums and vocals), and Noelle Shuck (guitar and vocals), each bring a distinct style and musical background to the group, resulting in a sound that is unique and somehow familiar all at once. Now, with their upcoming album Namedroppers set to, well, drop, Shehehe is poised to unleash their most electrifying collection of songs yet, promising an honest, autobiographical and cathartic ride. Namedroppers is a collection of songs about, and therefore inspired by, people; their future life partners, folks from their youth and subsequent struggles with adulthood, the musical heroes that they will miss when they’re gone, the radio DJs that play their favorite songs as if just for them, and those who make the music that eternally affect us all.
10:30PM -
Totally Slow (Greensboro, NC) offers up razor sharp, no-frills melodic hardcore, with angry lyrics that show how the personal is inseparable from the political when the country is on the brink of chaos. The band has combined the melodic anthems of 1980s SoCal bands like The Adolescents, Agent Orange and The Faction, with the skewed rawk of ‘90s San Diego bands Drive Like Jehu and Truman’s Water, and the righteous conviction of classic DC hardcore like Dag Nasty, Gray Matter and Fugazi.
9:45 PM -
With deep roots in the Gainesville, FL music scene, Chimes borrows just the smallest bits from their previous members’ work (Against Me!, Averkiou, & Sunshine State) as they veer towards a more synth-driven sound, striking a balance between post-punk, synth-pop, and dark wave. Singer/Guitarist Mike Magarelli and keyboardist/guitarist Kyle Fick formed the band in 2019 as a vessel for new ideas. Bassist/singer Matt Brink and drummer Todd Weissfeld joined soon after, and Chimes began playing live in early 2020. However, the pandemic quickly paused their efforts, and Todd Weisfeld moved abroad, being replaced by Warren Oakes. Their debut single “Hold On” was released in late 2023 and will be followed by a full-length on Ashtray Monument Records, sometime in 2024.
9:00 PM -
Formed in 1985 in Athens, Ga., by vocalist/bassist David Barbe, Mercyland played a visceral style of post-punk that was both perfectly contemporary and ahead of its time. The trio, which also featured guitarist Andrew Donaldson and drummer Joel Suttles, synthesized the influences of seminal American underground peers into a sound all its own. After 5 years of touring and indie releases, the band originally broke up in 1991. In the ensuing years, Barbe was creatively involved as band member, engineer or producer with a wide range of bands including Sugar, Drive-By Truckers, Deerhunter and The Glands.
In 2021, an original unreleased Mercyland album was remixed by Barbe and reassembled as We Never Lost a Single Game for their first official collective release – a necessary historical document of the end of this criminally unknown band. This led to the re-release of 1989’s No Feet on the Cowling in 2023.
