What's this play about?
Echo, a 20-something an American intellectual lesbian tourist arriving in Paris at the turn of the century, traces the steps she has taken toward an embrace of her whole self. This solo performance is a funny, honest and touching consideration of how one woman has come to occupy her own space by exploring the spaces created by other women in history: Sylvia Beach, Hilda Doolittle, Gertrude Stein, Djuna Barnes, and Margaret Wise Brown.
PLAYWRIGHT'S BIOGRAPHY
Meredith Dayna Levy is currently based in the Southwest Virginia. Her full-length historical drama Decision Height has garnered regional and national attention by winning several awards through the Kennedy Center’s American College Theatre Festival (KCACTF), including the Harold and Mimi Steinberg National Student Playwriting Award. Decision Height has been published by Samuel French Inc. and produced by theatres across the country. In 2016, her whimsical Underground comedy Coupler was produced as part of the Hollins-Mill Mountain Theatre Winter Festival of New Works and was awarded the David L. Shelton Full Length Playwriting Award by KCACTF, Region IV.
Meredith is a founding member of dwellings dancetheatre, a collaborative partnership between herself and dance maker Patricia Brooks Cope. Their mission is to create opportunities for other emerging artists to explore, connect, and make performance works. she is a distinguished graduate of the Playwright's Lab at Hollins University and is a member of the Dramatist's Guild
