The Mississippi Department of Mental Health (DMH) invites proposals for presentations at the upcoming Suicide Prevention Symposium which will be held on September 9, 2026. This event will bring together professionals, advocates, researchers and community leaders committed to reducing suicide and strengthening mental health supports across Mississippi.
Theme: Changing the Narrative by Silencing Stigma

Purpose of the Symposium
The symposium aims to highlight innovative strategies, evidence-based practices, and collaborative approaches to suicide prevention, intervention and postvention. We seek to foster meaningful dialogue, share practical tools and promote partnerships that improve outcomes for individuals, families and communities.
We encourage submissions from a wide range of perspectives, including:
Behavioral health professionals
- Healthcare providers
- Educators and school personnel
- Community-based organizations
- Researchers and academics
- Individuals with lived experience
- Faith-based and peer support leader
