Sharing the seedlings
About this Event
For people who’ve been watching their seedlings grow and others who would love some winter hardened seedlings to plant in their pots, gardens, on their windowsill you need to be at Myers Park Cottage on Sat 1 Aug.
For 10 weeks budding gardeners in Tamaki Makarau have been coached and supported by Levi Brinsdon-Hall to nurture some winter garden goodness. Now is the time for them to share what they have grown.
AND they will share it with you. They each may have up to 100 seedlings – far too many for them to plant out. But you could plant them out and grow your own kai, or herbs or flowers or even plant your own natives.
Wanting to get started then, pick up your FREE gardening resource pack and attend a drop in workshop.
Meet up with like-minded people from the inner city to:
- Connect with other inner city garden projects
- Talk about what you might grow successfully depending on the space you have
- Learn how to grow your own plants from seed
- Get your own gardening resource pack (trays, seeds and seedling mix) supported by weekly online workshops
- Join a network of seedling givers and help people grow their own kai
Group workshops run hourly:
- First workshop 10.30am
- then 11.30 am
- then 12.30pm
- then last workshop is at13.30 (1.30pm)
Feel free to come whenever suits you, have a cuppa, check out the cottage, share with us other things you'd like to see happen at the cottage, bring a picnic lunch and eat on the lawn.
This is how we green the city.
You're also invited to plant seedlings into Myers Park Cottage garden to feed the whanau at Merge Café
This is how we feed the city.
What to bring:
any excess gardening pots or bags
maybe a cardboard box to carry your seedlings home in,
gardening gloves
as a treat some home baking to share? We had beautiful chocolate chip cookies last time.
