About this Event
Welcome to Sharing is Caring - finding peer support during the menopause event! Join us on Wed Nov 20 2024 at 10:00 AM at Hestia House for a day of sharing, caring, and finding support during this stage of life. Connect with others going through similar experiences and learn from each other's journeys. Whether you're looking for advice, support, or just a listening ear, this event is the perfect place to find it. Don't miss out on this opportunity to connect with others, and take away tools to help you find further support in your own communities.
The first half of the session will be spent in small groups facilitated by people with experience of the menopause, and knowledge of available support both in and out of the workplace. Everyone will be given opportunity to share and listen. There will be a short presentation on employment rights and reasonable adjustments at work by DRC (Disability Resource Centre).
The second half will look at how peer support can be set up. Salus Fatigue Foundation will share a draft Toolkit for setting up groups which has been put together as a result of feedback from the menopause workshops they have held over the last 18 months.
This Event is organised by a partnership - BVSC (Birmingham Voluntary Service Council), DRC (Disability Resource Centre), and Salus Fatigue Foundation, a Partnership developed to support people who are affected by menopausal health issues.BVSC (Birmingham Voluntary Service Council), DRC (Disability Resource Centre), and , a Partnership developed to support people who are affected by menopausal health issues.
As the Project is funded through the government we will also use this engagement to influence and inform policy, and create future change in menopausal health support across Birmingham, Solihull and Warwickshire, and ultimately affect national support.
The Project is funded until 2025 by the The Voluntary, Community and Social Enterprise (VCSE) Health and Wellbeing Fund - a joint initiative run by the Department of Health and Social Care, NHS England and the UK Health Security Agency. The theme of the fund for 2022 to 2025 is women’s reproductive wellbeing in the workplace and links in with the development of the new Women’s Health Strategy.
