Join us in the Granville Center for the Arts gallery for Shared Stories, an evening of live readings featuring emerging Denison writers.
This summer reading will feature four emerging writers, Charlie Stocker, Elizabeth Koeppen, Grace Ostrosky, and Zoe Ward, sharing new and recent work across poetry, fiction, and creative prose. Their work explores place, memory, family, humor, and music.
Whether you are a writer, reader, artist, student, community member, or simply someone who loves hearing new stories, this event is for anyone interested in literature and the arts. Come gather with us for an evening of creative work, conversation, and connection.
This event is free and open to all!
MEET THE WRITERS:
Charlie Stocker is a creative writer, writing center consultant, and English teacher. He is an English and Spanish student at Denison University, where he has worked as editor in chief for Denison's first-year academic writing journal, Prologue Magazine, and at Reynolds Young Writers Workshop as a teaching assistant. His writing has received recognition from Exile Magazine and the Daniel Lee Mahood Creative Nonfiction competition. He has also found success in the film industry, writing and starring in the award-winning short film "Stuck in Frame" directed by Tyler Nguyen, which won the $1000 New Waves Grand Award at the New York Indie Shorts Award and Best Film at the Virginia Emerging Filmmakers Festival, along with selections at seven other festivals.
Zoe Ward is the 2025-2026 Tennessee Youth Poet Laureate and a National Gold Medalist in Poetry. She is a creative writing student at Denison University and a recipient of The Annie MacNeill Poetry Prize and The Danner Lee Mahood Prize For Fiction. Zoe is a graduate of the Iowa Young Writers' Studio, the Adroit Journal Poetry Mentorship, the Columbia Multi-Genre Workshop, and the Kenyon Winter Writers Workshop. Her work has been recognized by The Atlanta Review, dialogist, and Gannon University, among others.
Grace Ostrosky is a rising junior at Denison University and is from Cleveland, Ohio. She’s majoring in creative writing and minoring in journalism and Ancient Greek and Roman studies. On campus, she’s an editor for The Denisonian, a DJ for Doobie Radio, and a tour guide in the Office of Admission. Outside of her studies and campus involvement, she spends her time reading, writing, and going on coffee runs with her friends.
Elizabeth Koeppen is a poet and essayist from Columbus, OH. Her work has been published numerous times in Exile Literary Magazine. She enjoys experimenting with writing in form, whether it be a sestina, a pantoum, or a sonnet. Her work is heavily inspired by geography, family, and music.
