A hands-on workshop of clay and city stories. How does it feel to be in a new city, in a new place?
Shaping Athens with Clay is a creative, interactive workshop where locals and students from College Year in Athens come together to explore the struggles, changes, and challenges Athens is facing, from gentrification to the high cost of living, and reflect on their personal connection to the city.
Through the art of clay, participants will express their experiences, thoughts, and emotions, while engaging in meaningful conversations about what it truly means to live, adapt, and belong in Athens today.

No prior experience is needed, just bring your curiosity, your hands, and your voice.

Programme
Exploration, 50 minutes:
Participants go out and explore on their own, in small sub-groups or with the entire group. They have to think about which materialities relate to their given contradiction and document
them accordingly. We meet back in one hour.
Extraction, 90 minutes
Participants collect their findings and discuss them within the group. What topics have come up from examining the contradiction? Participants are tasked with creating one artwork based on their findings. How would they explain their ideas?
They may make collages, print their found textures on paper, write and make small clay sculptures.
Reflection, 15 minutes
Participants present their work, discuss results and reflect.
