On the 1st of May 2026, Shangri La and Indigo invite electronic music legend Carl Finlow to Crescent Community Venue.Expect a galactic voyage through house, techno and electro as Carl Finlow takes control. Traversing aliases such as Random Factor, Silicon Scally and Voice Stealer, Finlow has produced an extensive discography that crosses genres while retaining a distinctive yet subliminal sonic identity. His sound is precise and machine-driven, propelled by rolling rhythms, elastic basslines and subtle melodic artifacts, sewn together in synthetic harmony. Alongside releases on influential labels such as 20/20 Vision, Back To Basics, Electrix, Sur Musik and Devices, he continues to release music on modern imprints including Gamine, Alien Communications and Craigie Knowes.
Opening the night is Syd, head honcho of Indigo, setting the tone with dubby, stripped-back and darker selections with a timeless feel.
Followed by Minstermen, residents of Shangri La, whose record collections span a wide spectrum of underground sounds. From early 90s acid house, to 2000s electro, breakbeat and tech house, right through to forward-thinking modern sounds, they will guide the energy towards the headline show.
Taking place in the main room of Crescent Community Venue in York, this marks the first full Shangri La event in the space, alongside a celebration of 10 years of Indigo.
