Shane Dwight learned this music close to home. Born in San Jose and raised in Morgan Hill, he studied guitar with John Garcia, the Gilroy bluesman who played with John Lee Hooker, and he was teaching at the School of the Blues in San Jose while he was already touring. That lineage runs through everything he plays: gritty, road tested blues rock with a singer’s instinct for when to hold back and when to let the whole thing off the leash.
He moved to Tennessee and got serious. Producer Kevin McKendree, a Grammy winner for his work with Delbert McClinton, cut A Hundred White Lies with him using McClinton’s band, Rob McNelley on guitar, Lynn Williams on drums, Steve Mackey on bass, and the record climbed to number 3 on SiriusXM’s Bluesville. The two came back for This House on Eclecto Groove, with Bekka Bramlett, daughter of Delaney and Bonnie, singing on it and John Hiatt’s drummer Kenneth Blevins on the kit. USA Today has called him an ace songwriter. This one is a homecoming.
