Shamanic Sound Healing Weekend Intensive - Yaletown
About this Event
September 12-13, 2026
11:00 AM – 4:00 PM
Yaletown, Vancouver
This weekend intensive explores the use of sound as a gateway into non-ordinary states of consciousness. Through drumming and guided practice, participants will learn foundational methods for entering expanded states of awareness, developing intuitive perception, and cultivating a deeper relationship with spirit.
The training draws from two complementary traditions. The first is Core Shamanism, developed by anthropologist Michael Harner through the study of common practices found across shamanic cultures worldwide. The second is Norse Shamanism and seidr, a form of trancework rooted in ancient Scandinavia and traditionally used for insight, guidance, and healing.
Many people come to journeywork seeking clarity, creativity, healing, or a deeper understanding of themselves and their place in the world. Across cultures and throughout history, shamanic practices have offered methods for accessing knowledge and perspectives that extend beyond ordinary awareness. At its heart, journeywork is a practice of relationship: relationship with intuition, with spirit, with nature, and with the deeper layers of the self.
Bringing these traditions together, this training offers a practical and grounded approach to working with altered states. A central focus of the weekend is learning to journey between worlds using sound as a tool for shifting consciousness and establishing meaningful connections with helping spirits, power animals, ancestors, and other sources of guidance.
Throughout the weekend, participants will engage in guided journeys, experiential exercises, discussion, and hands-on instrument practice. We will explore how rhythm and tone influence perception, how repetitive sound can support shifts in consciousness, and how intention shapes the journey experience. While rooted in traditional shamanic practices, the training also examines these experiences through the lens of attention, perception, and nervous system regulation.
Participants will leave with practical tools for both personal practice and facilitation, including methods for preparing, navigating, and integrating journey experiences in a safe and intentional way.
Kasia is a certified shamanic practitioner and practicing seidr guide. She completed the Shamanic Healing Series through the Foundation for Shamanic Studies and is an active member of the Scandinavian Center for Shamanic Studies.
